You will need to complete a session of student teaching before you can teach primary or secondary education.
Once you've finished your online education, you may have several options for employment, depending on your degree level. Salaries are based on a number of variables: are you teaching at a public or private school? What grade are you teaching? Do you have a graduate degree? Statistics released by the U.S. Department of Labor in May 2009 show that over 1.5 million elementary school teachers were employed that year, earning a mean annual wage of $53,150. That same year, there were 14,060 vocational/occupational middle school teachers, who earned a mean annual wage of $51,520.
