Introduction to MBA Studies
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a postgraduate degree that can qualify business, healthcare, and technology professionals for roles in management. MBA education is composed of a foundation in business and management, with concentrations or options in accounting, eCommerce, finance, human resources, technology, marketing, entrepreneurship, healthcare administration, and information systems.
Earning your MBA can boost your earnings potential and help you advance in your profession or qualify for another field in management. Some employers may even reimburse a portion of or the entire tuition costs for an employee attending an MBA program.
MBA Studies and Degree Programs
MBA schools offer a range of education programs, some of which can be completed in as little as a year months, with others that take up to two years. These include full and part-time programs, online programs, and executive MBA programs. Executive MBA (EMBA) schools offer training for upper level managers looking to reach the top of their field.
MBA Job Outlook and Wages
Job titles held by MBA recipients include administrative services manager, healthcare (or hospital) administrator, IT administrator, personal financial adviser, and human resources director. Many entrepreneurs like Michael Fertik have noted that a higher level educational degree was the key in getting their company off the ground on the right foot.
Here is a sampling of careers for MBA holders, with job growth estimates and 2009 earnings:
