The MBA Career Guide

How to get required education for your mba career?

Identify booming MBA careers and then pursue related offline or online education. Learn more about some of the hottest degrees linked to MBA careers.

You know it's time to return to school to land a hot business job. But you don't have a clue where to start. Degrees associated to growing MBA careers could set you on the right track. Here's information on growing business education, including estimated degree durations and costs, as well as core courses and specialization opportunities. These popular degrees could jump-start your career now.

Bachelor's in Engineering

Many MBA careers require a technical base. To get into serious business shape, if you are an undergraduate, you may pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering. Be prepared to pay, though. The cost of a four-year bachelor's in engineering at a top U.S. university averages $160,000.

You could specialize, however, in cutting-edge areas, such as aeronautics and astronautics, biological engineering, chemical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, or electrical engineering and computer science. Later, you may pursue a master of engineering management combined with an MBA. This technical, solid education should allow you to recover your degree investment.

Master's of Business Administration

A master's of business administration is the MBA career degree par excellence. It should train you to manage core business areas and allow you to focus on one or two sectors. Core courses should include accounting, economics, statistics, finance, marketing, operations, management, and leadership, while specializations may be available in:
Entrepreneurship
Human resources
International business
Organizational behavior
Marketing

In full-time MBA programs, averaging $100,000, and between one and two years of studies, students not only should benefit from a comprehensive curriculum, but also from practical training, such as MBA internships in major companies, and access to a network of talented peers.

Master of Computer and Information Technology

You would like to enter the computer field, but have no previous training. A master of computer and information technology, averaging some $52,000, and a year and half of studies, could be the degree for you. Core courses include programming languages and techniques, mathematical foundations of computer science, computer architecture, digital system organization and design, and theory of computation. Additional courses could include networks and protocols, programming languages and techniques, database and information systems, and networked systems.

Master in Human Resources and Employment Relations

Your effort in a master's in human resources should translate into progress in this booming sector. You could attend courses online for about a year and a half at an approximately $24,000 investment. Core courses could include labor and employment law, human resources, international and comparative employment relations, organizations in the workplace, and a research project. Specializations in benefits and compensation; labor and collective bargaining; employment and labor law; and staffing, training, and development should also be available. Combining the master 's degree with full-time, entry-level work in human resources could provide a solid introduction into the field.

Additional Training and Information

You may follow an MBA with a PhD in finance or related area if pursuing a high-level, technical management consulting or financial analysis career. Other popular degrees include the master of health services administration and the master's of tourism administration with an event and meeting management concentration. Cost, duration, and content of programs vary by format and institution.

How to Get the Required Education for Your MBA Career?

The right education is important for your career. MBA Education always depends on learning & going to school. You should consider that except for financial considerations, the public or private nature of a university should not be a factor in selecting a graduate program. High quality programs exist in both types of institutions.

Of more importance is the institution's commitment to the graduate program. This commitment is found in its willingness to maintain a first-class faculty and to provide excellent facilities for advanced study, including libraries, laboratories, computers, and other equipment.

Another important factor to consider in many disciplines is the presence of strong departments in other fields relevant to your interests so that you can have access to scholars and courses in disciplines related to your own. Selecting the right school that offers the required degree for your education is a large investment of time, money, and effort. A consequent & careful evaluation of campus-based or online schools is important.

Find schools that meet your interests
